The World is On Fire
This song was written in 2024 in response to the challenges we are all facing in the world today. It harkens back to days when I first began performing in Calgary during the Vietnam conflict and reflects the outrage and concern I feel about the state of affairs we find ourselves in. This live performance was recorded in Powelll River, BC at the Cranberry Hall.
Johnny Was A Chevy Man
I wrote this song about my father based on an anecdote I wrote about in my memoir Only Children where I recalled travelling often to the Rocket Car Wash with my father as a child. My father seemed at the time to be aloof and often uncaring about anything but his prized Chevy’s. Over the course of writing the book, I came to realize he faced many challenges in his life, I was unaware of as a child. I released a version of this song on my digital album Singing These Songs For You.
Pale Lights
Pale Lights was the first song I wrote that I felt was good enough to perform in public. that was over 50 years ago and I believe it still holds up. A few years ago during COVID I revisited the song and added a new verse, then later added a second new verse. I first released the song on my now out of print first album Roll Me A Dream… in 1982 when I lived in Fort Smith in the NWT. I re-recorded and released the song again on my 2023 digital album Singing These Songs For You.
